Overview

Premera: providing quality care

As the largest health plan in the Pacific Northwest, Premera provide comprehensive, tailored services to customers. During recent years, the company has been focusing on the customer experience through the whole process of healthcare: find care, pharmacy and aftercare.

 

Bettersense: assisting quality aftercare

Bettersense is a healthcare product designed for Premera Blue Cross aiming to bring a better aftercare experience for long-distance caregivers (LDCs) and the ones they take care of. The goal of our project is to elicit a positive emotional response, facilitate meaning connections, provide a means of personalized communication for caregivers and care receivers.

 

DESIGN CHALLENGE

Foster the feelings of connectivity between long-distance caregivers and care recipients

There is a noticeable growing trend of long-distance caregivers, who live more than one hour away from their care recipients. From our research, we found that long-distance caregivers tend to have emotional burdens from being physically far away from the person they take care of. How to reduce the feeling of being guilty by facilitating connections became the design challenge.
